Moody County Genealogical Society (MCGS)
is dedicated to preserving family histories of Moody County and South Dakota.
Meetings are held at the Moody County Museum in Flandreau on the third Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m. The public is cordially invited to attend.
The
Society works closely with the Moody County Historical
Society in recording area history. As a society,
interest in genealogy is promoted. We encourage,
educate, and instruct in the art and practice of
research and promoting genealogical standards. The
importance of accuracy and documentation in genealogical
research is stressed.
Society members answer queries and do research to help others locate their ancestors.
Investment in History
The Moody County Genealogical Society is successful because of the wonderful donors who supply the Society with information. Nearly everything in our archives has been donated by people who care about Moody County History.
Please
consider donating copies of your genealogical work. The
Society takes originals, and will give copies back to
you if that is your preference.
Any type of record, photo, news article or book dealing
with the county is appropriate to donate. Everything is expertly handled and cared for.
